About Us

The Elmore County Black History Museum was established in 1986 and is presently operated by the Elmore County Black History Committee.  The mission of the committee is to use the museum to stimulate interest in African American family life and history in Elmore County.  In addition, the museum will be used to promote a better understanding of black history in Elmore County and raise the consciousness of the public in appreciation and research in family history of a people whose heritage has been generally unrecognized.
