Welcome to the Elmore County Black History Museum!

The mission of the museum is to promote a better understanding of Black history in Elmore County and to recognize the contributions of individuals who worked to improve the standard of living for Black residents in the county.

The building that houses the museum was built in 1924 as a part of the Rosenwald school building program.  The Rosenwald program provided facilities to educate Black children and serve as community centers to help dispersed rural people come together to improve farming techniques and forge a strong community bond.
